What was the name of the US Ship that sank the Montevideo Maru during WWII?

The American submarine USS Sturgeon sank the freighter Montevideo Maru. The Japanese Montevideo Maru was carrying 845 prisoners of war (PoWs) and 208 civilians at the time. It is belived that 19 crew and 100 PoWs and civilians made it to shore although records of the sinking have been lost.
