The ketch Capella was delivered to PNG from Adelaide (Australia) by Bill Brown in mid the 1960's.  It was a commercial grain carrying sailing boat with flax sails.  She was a large ketch, at 82 feet, she could carry just under 1500 bags of wheat, or 106 tons of gypsum or salt.

She was fitted with a truck engine as a auxiliary.

The ketch was built at Huon, Tasmania (Australia) in 1873.
