How many submarines have visited PNG?

Sorry, I am not able to answer that question.  I would assume there would have been many World War II visits especially around Rabaul by the Japanese.  I would also imagine other countries would have passed by PNG during the World War II.

 

At least one submarine was active in PNG during World War I. The HMAS AE1 submarine used by the Australians during World War 1. She was the first submarine to serve in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and was lost at sea with all hands near East New Britain, Papua New Guinea, on the 14th of September 1914.  HMAS AE1 was originally known as just AE1.  -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMAS_AE1

 

The Submarine, HMS Tabbard, visited Port Moresby in 1966.  HMS Tabard was a British submarine of the third group of the T class. She was built by Scotts, Greenock, and launched on 21 November 1945.
