When did Barry Holloway die?

Sir Barry Blyth Holloway passed away on the 16th of January 2013.  He died in Brisbane's Mater hospital aged 78.

 

He arrived in the Australian Territory of Papua and New Guinea to serve as a kiap (colonial administrator) in 1953 at the age of 18, and remained permanently in the country. In 1968, Papua New Guinea having begun a transition towards self-government, he was (along with Albert Maori Kiki, Michael Somare and Tony Voutas) a founding member the Pangu Pati, "the first real political party in Papua New Guinea", which went on to become one of the country's main political parties.

 

In the 1968 general election, he was elected to the House of Assembly as MP for Kainantu.

After the 1972 General Elections he became the Speaker of the 3rd House of Assembly
