The night of nights for musicians in the country saw Stagajah, Tarvin Toune and Jaro Local, walk away major winners of the 13th YumiFM Music Awards night.

The awards ceremony was hosted at the Lamana Gold Club in Port Moresby.

Stagahjah, from Tokarara in the Moresby North West, collected awards in the Group of the Year, Studio Label of the Year and Listeners Choice Group of the Year.

Tarvin Toune collected Artist of the Year, Listeners Choice Artist of the Year, with the Best Duet or Collaboration award featuring Hotwills and Drex Blunt for his song “Rowena”.

Meri Kalibobo walked away with the Song of the Year; artist Jaro Local also collected the Rookie of the Year and South Pacific Artist of the Year.

Song of the Year Listeners’ Choice went to Mal Maninga Kuri for his song “Alawake” featuring Bata Rods.

The Justin Kili Hall of Fame was awarded to John Wong and Gwadu Band for their services to music in the country.

Camry Kili, son of the late Kili, was on hand to present the children of the late John Wong and the Gwadu Band their awards

General manager of PNGFM, Charles Taylor, said he was pleased with the listeners’ efforts in their selection of the winners, and congratulated all musicians and groups for being the few to be selected for the awards. He added that the sponsors of the night played a hand at ensuring the night and the awards were a success.

The crowd was at its capacity, with fans packing the arena at the Gold Club as early as 6:30 pm.

Live performances on the night came from Sharzy, Tarvin Toune, Saii Kay, Jaro Local, Dumen X-TRAS, Mal Meninga Kuri and Bata Rods.
