What was the Malaita?
The Malaita built by Barclay Curie at Glasgow in 1933, for Burns Philp, was a motorship of 3,310 gross tons, 1833 net 3530 deadweight. She was almost cut in half by a torpedo from a Japanese submarine on the 29th of August 1942 three miles from Port Morebsy.
